Ravi Ashwin Returns Home to a Warm Welcome After Retirement Announcement

Chennai, December 19: Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who shocked the cricket world with his retirement announcement on Wednesday, has returned home to a warm and emotional welcome.

Ashwin reached Chennai airport on Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after declaring his retirement from international cricket. He was greeted by a large crowd of fans, friends, and family members who had gathered to express their appreciation for his illustrious career.

The 35-year-old spinner was escorted from the airport to his residence in a convoy of vehicles, where he was met with a hero's reception. Dozens of fans lined the streets, waving flags and chanting his name.

Upon arriving home, Ashwin was greeted with traditional garlands and a special welcome ceremony. His wife, Prithi Narayanan, and children, Adhya and Akshara, were overjoyed to see him back.

In an emotional moment, Ashwin addressed the crowd gathered outside his residence. He expressed his gratitude for the love and support he had received throughout his career.

Ashwin's sudden retirement came as a surprise to many, as he had consistently been one of India's top performers in Test cricket. However, the spinner explained that he had made the decision after much deliberation.

"It was a tough decision, but it was time for me to move on," Ashwin said. "I'll always cherish the memories of playing for India and representing my country."

Ashwin finished his international career with 442 Test wickets, making him India's second-highest wicket-taker in the format. He also played 111 ODIs and 50 T20Is, taking 151 and 68 wickets, respectively.
