Tulsi Gabbard Blasts Democratic Party for "Inner Squabbling" over Biden
Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has criticized the Democratic Party for its alleged infighting over Joe Biden's candidacy, accusing them of prioritizing their own interests over the well-being of the nation.
In a recent interview, Gabbard stated: "They didn't give Democrat voters in that primary an option, but here we find ourselves, as we see all of this inner squabbling happening amongst Democrats and influential people in the Democratic sphere about whether or not Joe Biden should remain the nominee or whether they should swap him out."
Gabbard argued that the internal divisions within the party stem from a lack of concern for the country's best interests. "It's because they don't really care about what's best for the country," she opined.
Speculation has been rife in recent weeks about the possibility of Biden being replaced as the Democratic nominee due to his age and declining approval ratings. Some Democrats have publicly expressed concerns about his ability to handle the presidency, while others have remained loyal to the incumbent.
Gabbard's comments come as the Democratic Party faces an uphill battle to retain control of the House of Representatives and regain the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections. Recent polls have shown Republicans with a slight advantage in both chambers.
Gabbard, a two-term Democratic representative from Hawaii, left the party in 2021, citing its increasing embrace of "woke" ideology and its departure from traditional Democratic values. She has since become a vocal critic of the Biden administration and the Democratic Party establishment.
In her interview, Gabbard also discussed the influence of Jill and Hunter Biden on the president. "We have to ask ourselves, is Joe Biden calling the shots in the White House? Or is it Jill Biden, who is his closest adviser? Or is it Hunter Biden, who has a history of corruption and influence peddling?" she questioned.
Gabbard's allegations mirror those made by Republican lawmakers and conservative commentators, who have claimed that Jill and Hunter Biden exercise undue influence over the president's decision-making. The Biden family has denied these allegations.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has not responded to Gabbard's criticisms. However, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison has recently defended Biden's record, arguing that he has made progress on key issues such as the economy and healthcare.
Gabbard's comments have ignited a debate among Democrats about the party's future and its commitment to the values it espouses. As the party prepares for the midterm elections, it remains to be seen whether internal divisions will overshadow its efforts to win back power.
